Sports injuries affect people of all ages — from recreational runners to competitive athletes. Common orthopaedic sports injuries include ligament tears (such as ACL injuries), rotator cuff tears, meniscal damage, tendon ruptures and ankle instability.
Early assessment is critical. Continuing activity on an unstable or injured joint can worsen structural damage and delay recovery. Symptoms such as swelling, instability, sharp pain, weakness or limited movement should prompt evaluation.
Diagnosis often involves clinical examination combined with imaging such as MRI or ultrasound. Once a clear diagnosis is made, treatment is tailored to the individual’s activity level and goals.
